Many of the winners of the 53rd GRAMMY Awards were announced in the afternoon during a pre-party gala. Among the rock winners was Neil Young, who took home the award for Best Rock Song for “Angry World’ from his recent album Le Noise. He triumphed over Muse, Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons, and The Black Keys.
Many artists were not present, but a few did show up to accept and give thanks in person, including Neil Young, who seemed truly thankful. “This is my first GRAMMY for music, and I appreciate it greatly,” Young said from the podium. “I’m not Mavis [Staples], but I’m close.”

Neil Young has been a personal hero of mine for over 1/2 of my life. He is a truly kind, caring man not to mention one helluva performer. Congrats to Neil for the award.
