Stadium rockers Muse will roll up to this year’s GRAMMY Awards with confidence that their meteoric rise to fame will result in them walking away as winners.
Last.fm Trends looks at their nominations to see what awards they could be adding to their collection.
Muse’s total scrobble count of 199,753,645 is beaten by just two artists on Last.fm, with only The Beatles (296,930,982 scrobbles) and Radiohead (262,405,473 scrobbles) topping them. Coldplay trail with 180,578,358 scrobbles, meaning Muse will be only the third band to reach the two hundred million mark.
The band are nominated for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the GRAMMY Awards – incidentally their first ever GRAMMY nominations.
Nominated for two of the awards, the track “Resistance” has racked up 2,922,310 scrobbles across 502,354 listeners – with none of its fellow nominees really coming close (except for maybe Arcade Fire‘s “Ready To Start” which has 1,545,466 scrobbles)
The same can be said for nominated album The Resistance. With 22,811,943 scrobbles the category for Best Rock Album looks to be theirs for the taking, with only Pearl Jam‘s Backspacer (4,804,382 scrobbles) likely to trouble it.
Tune into the Grammy Awards on CBS on February 13th to see if Muse can turn their nominations into awards.
