Kurt Cobain “Wrote Song For Popular 90s Cartoon”

I remember as a kid cartoons were so much better than they are now. We had Hey Arnold!, Doug, Aaahh!!! Angry Monsters, Catdog, Rocko’s Modern Life and Rugrats, to name some of my favorites. And today when it’s Saturday morning and I’m eating cereal and desperately searching for some worthwhile toons I’m almost always disappointed. Step your game up animators!
I’m guessing Kurt Cobain, the late Nirvana frontman, wanted to tap into his inner child as well and have one of his songs appear on a once popular cartoon. The alleged news comes from a voice actor, Billy West who starred in this particular cartoon as a feline character. Chris Hardwick, former KROQ DJ and now writer/podcaster, squeezed the news from West during a podcast interview.
Billy West was the voice of Stimpy of The Ren & Stimpy Show, and he claimed that Cobain showed up at the Los Angeles offices of Spümcø, the animation company behind the show. West says, “One day, this scraggly kid came in and said he wanted to write a song for Ren & Stimpy.”
“
They said, 'Yeah, that's great,'
”
Billy West
West’s account has yet to be verified by anyone who knew the late singer/guitarist, but Cobain’s song was indeed rejected by the show’s chiefs. “They [TV bosses] said, ‘Yeah, that’s great,’” says West, “and they threw it in the wastebasket.”
If you’ve heard this rumor, or of the song’s whereabouts, please enlighten us. Meanwhile, enjoy this classic episode.

Sexy Sadie…I can’t believe you said Catdog.
That Nick toon was totally created way after Doug and Rugrats! Shows your true age kitten.
My excuse was my 6 year old nephew who is now 13 but yes, in that long ago time of 2000 he and I too endured with great pleasure and enjoyment the likes of Hey Arnold, Catdog, and even the cult classic…Rocket Power! “We’re shoobies!?!” -Rocket Boy. Sad to say with much pride that I also spand backwards in time to the late great Ren & Stimpy. Loved the hell out of that cartoon! “The Canadian Yaksmen!”. Goodtimes…crazy to think as a punk skater stayin’ up past midnight on a saturday night watchin’ Nickelodeon that whoa, so was Mr. Cobain. Trips… So Sadie, what about “Are You Afraid of the Dark”??? and “Hey Dude”??? OMG! AND ROCCO’S MODERN LIFE!?! “Hey Spunky” -Rocco. Heffer man! That was my character right there. Lastly, and this is what sets any true Nick kid from all the others…”YOU CAN’T DO THAT ON TELEVISION”… Awww memories…I know, after Spongebob it all just went head first down the drain. And it’s not even about the connection with the characters but the lack of creativity, the lack of originality. These cartoons don’t even have a point or at all make any kind of sense. Its just sad. I weep for the future of young children. Great post Sadie! You took me down memory lane without me even having to go anywhere. That is what a real post is all about! Ask Sluggo, he knows. Coolness lady! Perfect picture. The part that sticks out most to me in the Unplugged sessions is when Kurt and Dave Novoselic talk about Davey and Goliath —>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PB-FOx0v1w&feature=related So glad MTV was able to capture these wonderful last moments… Keep it Real girlee. Mmmm cupcakes…

Sadly, I remember the whole theme song to Catdog haha.. and I totally agree there is a lack of originality and creativity… I really do miss those days.
Thanks for your response
