Nestled in between the weekends of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and that ‘other’ festival known as Stagecoach, we present to you every metal-heads dream: The Big 4 Festival featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, taking place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
This won’t be the first time that The Big 4 have played together either. Early last year, the bands performed together during a short European tour and had the show broadcast in hundreds of theaters worldwide. Now’s your chance to catch 4 of the biggest and loudest bands in the world in person, and not in some cramped, little theater.

Lars Ulrich of Metallica called in to the Kevin and Bean Show last summer to talk about the DVD The Big 4. Over the summer these rock juggernauts joined forces for a seven-stop tour, and their Sofia, Bulgaria stop was filmed for this DVD. This DVD set includes full sets from all four bands, and is definitely a must for any metal fan.

Grayland – Just because KROQ does not have the balls to play metal does not make metal popular? Europe has HUGE festivals. Mayhem Fest here in America is very successful. I get the fact that you are a KROQ fan, therfore you lack any knowledge on music outside of the same 15 Nirvana/Sublime/RATM songs played on repeat, so I forgive you. Excited about this show. News flash for Gayland, these bands have been at it for nearly 30 years. Do you think your sh1tty Black Keys, Phoenix, and Neon Trees will be around 30 years from now, playing in front of over 100,000 people. I think not. If you remember, KROQ used to be a rock station. It’s funny to call these new bands hipsters because there is nothing hip about their music. Go back to being a rock station KROQ!

VIP tickets includes access to front of stage VIP Pit, as well as access to a tented viewing area for a break from the crowds and the elements, VIP parking with a separate entrance, higher quality food and beverage choices, and better restroom facilities

I still haven’t got the pre-sale password. Does anyone know if you’re in the Metallica Fan Club how many tickets you can get with the pre-sale tomorrow? I need 3 tickets and I read that you can only get 2 or 4 which isn’t fair. They should give you a max limit of 4 tickets per membership or something like that.

Are the VIP pit section the only PIT section close to the stage? How far back are the regular tickets from the stage?

The Pit section is the space between the barracks and the stage.
The rest of the crowd (general admission) goes behind the barracks which is about 10 feet from the stage. So you can get as close as ten feet I suppose.

Jumped through all the hoops for the pre sale code to find it is General Admission. What a waste. I think that is the last straw – too much to ask – the drive the heat the price AND general Admission?! That is a big ass venue, is it not? That just sounds miserable! I want to mosh and have an actually seat to return to after all the expense and effort. Just do a tour already!!! And if we could do it without the scumbags – TicketMaster – all the better!
