What’s my favorite KROQ band of all time?  Easy.  The Pixies.  If I had my d’ruthers you’d get a steady diet of them like you did back in the early 1990′s and so I’m throwing you a live version of  ‘A Letter to Memphis’ (a fave of Pixies fans I know), but I could happily have played: MONKEY GONE TO HEAVEN, THE HAPPENING, IS SHE WEIRD?, WHERE IS MY MIND, U-MASS, their sickly amazing cover of HEAD ON, DIG FOR FIRE, either version of WAVE OF MUTILATION, HERE COMES YOUR MAN, VELOURIA, GIGANTIC, ANA, GOUGE AWAY, and/or ROCK MUSIC for you since they’re all Pixie songs that I’ve blasted for myself and friends time and again over the years.

If you’re not familiar with these humans and like today’s flashback, check any of those others out ASAP.  Sooner even!

Because the gods (or dogs?) smiled upon me, the horseless carriage I tool around town in has an HD Radio. This allows me to hear KROQ-HD2. KROQ-HD2 is KROQ’s sub-channel with a Roq Of The 80s format. Freddy Snakeskin (remember him?!) does a pretty tootin’ job playing the songs, including The Pixies. Maybe Sluggo put a weapon to Freddy’s head to have The Pixies played, maybe he didn’t… I wasn’t there each of the last four times that happened. The point is: Buy American. Oh yeah, and listen to peachy bands like The Pixes (that you thought KROQ forgot) on KROQ-HD2.

If you’re still wandering around 2006, you can listen to the station online via http://www.RoqOfThe80s.com . Now get off my lawn and go check it out on your p0rn machine, err, computer!

Sluggster!!! “I GOT A BROKEN FACE! UH HUH UH HUH UH HUH UH HUH Ooo!” Hell Yeah Slugmonkey. I dig this band right here! The second I first saw Pump Up The Volume and that scene where Christian Slater walks solemnly down the neighborhood of track homes as a young 90′s youth burdened by the harsh faces of reality…all while the Pixies play “Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)”. Then in Fight Club, geez! Great band. Love their music. “Bone Machine”, “Nimrods Son”. So many great ones indeed. What a time to be… memory reflections as always with the Flashback selections! Great job Sluggo. Keep ‘em lit. Bra.

Oh! And where’s my Minor Threat! :P Smoke Strike. *Lights up*…
