Avenged Sevenfold Relieve Mike Portnoy Of Drumming Duties
Approximately one year ago Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Sullivan passed away, with Dream Theater founder Mike Portnoy stepping in to help finish recording their new album Nightmare and perform the duration of their shows this year.
Portnoy recently announced his departure from Avenged Sevenfold, stating the band decided to carry on without him (as was the original plan). Now that he’s gone, one has to wonder not only about the future of Avenged Sevenfold, but that of Portnoy as well. Earlier this year he decided to quit Dream Theater to focus his time with Avenged.
According to Portnoy’s Facebook:
Yes, the rumours are true…sadly my time with Avenged Sevenfold has come to an end…
The band has decided to carry on into 2011 without me…I had a great time with them throughout 2010, but it was their choice to end the relationship at the end of 2010 as was always the initial plan….
I had an awesome time on stage with the guys every night and have so many cool memories from the experience with them…I am proud to always be part of the A7X family and history.
I also adore the A7X fans and totally appreciate the way they welcomed me aboard and were so loving and supportive during my time with the band…thank you!
As far as my future, I am excited by the endless musical possibilities that lie ahead of me…my love for music runs very deep and my taste is very broad and ecclectic which will give me the chance to explore many different things and collaborate with many great friends and artists I admire and respect…

It’s a well known fact that AX7 are useless twats and their fans make Raiders fans look like saints. The lowest of the low, the scum of the Earth. The Rev was a dirty junky and Portnoy is way too good for these turds. Flame me all you want, just know that when you are out at the mall getting your pussies pierced at Hot Topic, I am listening to real bands, not a bunch of spoiled rich OC punks pretending it’s 1987 all over again.

Wow it’s not bad enough you have to talk smack about a band but you insult the fans too? Dude, I don’t know or care how you think you get off but you are out of line.
The Rev may have had drug problems but he was still an awesome person and drummer.
Nice job overgeneralizing with the Hot Topic reference, it was so clever. Wonder how long you took with that one.
I’m assuming by what you call real bands you mean hacks like the Jonas Brothers.
And rich? The guys from A7X grew up with almost nothing and made something of themselves through their hard work and dedication and are nowhere near spoiled. Their success is their own and they are all way better people than some weak hater like you who hides behind a computer insulting people.

First off..you never speak ill of the dead..thats just f-ed up. Second you cant get pierced at Hot Topic..all you can do is buy awesome band t-shirts and piercings and lastly..just because they are rich now doesnt mean they always were most punk rockers had a tough ass child hood..
Oh and i need to add that A7X (not AX7) have amazing fans, as do most bands..The fact that you need to talk down a bands group of fans is pathetic.

By the way Avenged Sevenfold have been out there for a few years now, if you know they “suck” why would you dare listen to a cover they did? I stay away from bands I don’t like, Just saying.
