Coldplay have announced that they will be teaming up with ambient music pioneer/producer Brian Eno for their upcoming fifth album.

Billboard reports that it will be a concept album about “Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together.”

Whilst the album currently has no release date, Coldplay has teased fans with a Christmas single entitled “Christmas Lights”.

Last.fm Trends looks at how the single has fared so far and their career to date in anticipation of their album.

It is proof to Coldplay’s popularity that with just four albums the band have still managed to rack up an enormous 174,927,900 scrobbles spread across 3,272,423 listeners (that’s an average of 53 scrobbles per listener).
