New Wave inspired rock band, Neon Trees, is definitely not lacking in personality. When they sat down backstage and talked to KROQ’s own Sluggo they talked about how much they love Christmas, Latin American and Mexican fans, and their favorite donut shop in Burbank!
Sluggo humorously asked them: “Did you guys notice the Neon Trees on the side of the stage?”
The whole band laughed and said in synchrony: “We love it!”
How fitting that a band named after Neon Trees (albeit the ones that bedazzle the signs of In-N-Out), should play a Christmas show. One of the only bands to play a Christmas song at this year’s acoustic Christmas, Neon Trees also brought out a Santa Claus who was throwing out “Neon Trees t-shirts and thongs.” They decided to do the Christmas song because they had a “layover and flight cancellations” and it gave them time to prepare that special treat for the audience.
Lead singer Tyler Glenn told Sluggo that his favorite kid of music is new wave: “anytime the radio plays The Smiths, Depeche Mode, or New Order–that’s a good time.” This is also one of the reasons that the band has an “affinity” for their Latin American and Mexican fans who taught Glenn about Morrissey.
What else is another band fav? Donut Prince in Burbank. Like, right down the street?
We know what we are getting at 2am tonight!
