Cake, infamous for not bringing a set list to the stage, bounded onstage around 7:40 PM, with their sure-fire crowd pleaser, “Short Skirt, Long Jacket.” As expected, the crowd launched into a word-for-word lyrical onslaught.
As promised in their earlier interview, they also gave the audience a taste of their up-and-coming 6th studio album, Showroom of Compassion, scheduled for a Jan. 11, 2011 release, playing their new track “Sick of You.”
Evidently, people have been checking out that single since they sang along on cue to the catchy hook, “I’m so sick of you, so sick of me, I don’t want to be with you.”

They ended with the adrenaline-raising “The Distance,” to which the crowd again pelted out lyrics in synch (hey, what can we say; there was a lot of kareoke going on.)
Despite mixing new with their oldies but goodies, Cake showed off heir distinct meld of strong hooks, guitar riffs and that wicked, sense-tingling vibraslap.
