KROQ ACX 2010: Backstage Mayhem
by Alex Rauch
Backstage at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas is a facade. The backstage area is a clusterfack of music equipment and roadies. Although we have our backstage passes hanging around our neck, we’re not backstage. We’re not even off to the side.
That’s because we’re UNDER the stage, which, in our opinion, is so much cooler than trying to peek around a Marshall stack. Consider us the Underground Railroad of ACX 2010.

The roof over our heads has been thumping to the sounds of Cake, Bad Religion, Anberlin, freakin’ everybody. Even Mike Ness stopped by to chat about Bad Religion before making his way up top to watch.
It may be balmy and crowded down here, but the with the bass drum pounding out the rhythm to My Chemical Romance’s “Na Na Na”, our dungeon is more of a secret hideout than anything else.
Plus there’s a trap door to the stage right over there and the whiskey’s making us frisky. How do you resist the temptation of streaking during Social Distortion?
