When Billy Corgan took the stage with KROQ’s Stryker, the first thing Stryker asked him was a question that Corgan asked him to ask via Twitter. (When Styker sent to all his fans asking what questions to ask The Smashing Pumpkins, Corgan responded personally with a request. Ahhhh the wonderful, wild world of the internets.)

Corgan’s proposed question to himself:“Why are you are so darn cute like a polar bear?” Why would Billy ask him to ask him that?

He quipped, “It was a drunk dial.” We’ll never know but what we do know is that, in his knit winter hat, Corgan didn’t look as far off as one would expect the lead singer of The Smashing Pumpkins. How darn cute.

Jokes aside, Corgan was quick to exclaim excitement to be coming back to Acoustic X-Mas,”I think the first time we played was 1993 or 1994.”

Though the composition of the band has changed quite significantly since 1993-1994–with Corgan the sole remaining member–Corgan hinted that can expect tonight to hear some of the S.P classics. Corgan exclaimed he never gets tired of playing “Today,” so we can cross our fingers to hear that tonight.

However, he candidly admitted that mood typically dictates the set list:  “I don’t play what I don’t want to. I don’t ever want to be faking or phoning it in. I think I owe it to everybody not to be that type of artist.”

As for if they are going to play their X-mas song “Christmas Time,” this year, it’s a toss-up. “I suppose I should play my Christmas song,” but Corgan admitted probably not because they hadn’t had time to practice it.

However, since there’s an abundant amount of holiday spirit in the house tonight, we’ll simply have to wait and see if the x-mas trees and sparkling red and green lights motivate him to bring on his X-mas jam, when S.P. takes the stage tonight.
