Gorillaz Aim To Release New Album By Christmas

Not only do we have the 21st Annual Almost Acoustic Christmas to look forward to, but we have presents, the birth of baby Jesus, candy canes and egg nog and now a Gorillaz new album. Life is good!
Even though the band has spent the last year on the road, they’re still making time to record new tracks (even sometimes on an iPad) from hotel to hotel.
Frontman Damon Albarn recently spoke about his plans for this “studio album made in hotel rooms across America.” He says he doesn’t need a full-blown studio to make the record, in fact he’s recorded the music on his iPad. “I hope I’ll be making the first record [on it],” he says. “Which is ironic, being the sort of technophobe and Luddite that I am. But I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I’ve made a completely different kind of record.”
Albarn says this album is more “American-sounding,” departing from his Blur days: “It sounds like an English voice that has been put through a vocoder of America.” The album is expected to drop sometime during the holidays.
If Albarn isn’t busy enough, the singer has formed a new group with Flea and afro beat drummer Tony Allen. “[We're] three-quarters of the way through; I need to get this finished,” Albarn said.
Check out the preview for a new, previously-unreleased Gorillaz song called “Doncamatic (All Played Out).”

obviously plastic beach was a commercial failure

Here’s the actual line-
“As of November 2010, Plastic Beach has sold just over 1,200,000 copies worldwide.”
Also, Albarn usually focuses on an album only up to a year to a year and a half before it’s actual release since he has his own musical career.
