SEMA, the Speciality Equipment Market Association convention started today in Las Vegas. Any true car geek has either been to this convention or has dreamt of going. It’s the single largest convention for car parts and accessories.

Imagine 10+ football fields covered with $100,000 vendor booths featuring the latest and greatest gadgets, wheels, tires, stereos, lift and lowering kits, engines, turbos, alarms, concept cars and more. And, by more, I mean seriously more.

I have friends that spend the better part of each year trying to wrangle an early production (2011) car, or hard to find car, in order to modify it in time for SEMA. One such friend, John, scored a 2011 Scion tC and turned it into a GT wide-body track-ready race car. This is just the type of thing happening all over the West Coast as completely sleep deprived nut jobs blow off wives and family to finish in time for the biggest car show of the year… SEMA.

I’ll be driving to Vegas at the crack of dawn Wednesday to grab some photos and document as much as I can.
