DEVO Member Involved In Accident, Tour Dates Postponed

Filed Under:

We just received this press release regarding DEVO and an injury sustained by founding member and guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh. Take a moment and read through it. The band is working on getting the new dates for the 2010 tour.

Yesterday, founding member and guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh sliced his hand as a glass shard cut his right thumb to the bone. A tendon was severed, which is serious business for a musician.

Mothersbaugh underwent immediate surgery. The thumb is attached and he is expected to make a full recovery.

While we do not have any details on the length of the therapy, the band has come out and said the tour will restart in the Spring of 2011. For now, all tour dates in 2010 are postponed.

This won’t be the last time we see DEVO in 2010. Brother of Bob and founding members Mark Mothersbaugh will accompany band mate Gerald Casale at the Moogfest in Asheville, NC. They will be accepting the Moog Innovation Award on October 29th on behalf of the entire band. Moog is a synthesizer that DEVO incorporated into much of their music.
