Movie Beat 10/22/10: Paranormal Activity 2, Hereafter, And More

In this week’s edition of the Movie Beat, I review: Paranormal Activity 2, Hereafter, and Inhale.

Paranormal Activity 2:

The sequel to the wildly popular film that introduced us to the concept of how scary it is when someone pulls a sheet off your body. In this film, another family is in the midst of a disturbing presence that haunts their home nightly. Just in time for Halloween, we’re starting to see all the scary movies coming out.

You may just want to grab a 40 and see Jackass 3D. Just get loaded with your friends and watch the poo-cano.

Inhale:

It’s in limited release this weekend in New York and Los Angeles. I had a chance to see this and it is a remarkably interesting thriller/drama with a subject matter that you don’t see much in movies anymore. It’s a really original film. Great cast: Dermot Mulroney, Diane Kruger, Sam Shepard. Dermot Mulroney’s daughter needs a double lung transplant, she’s low down on the list, and is going to die basically.

Mulroney becomes aware of an illegal, black market, organ ring that he is able to get his daughter some lungs from. It’s dark, fascinating, disturbing.

Hereafter:

Directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Matt Damon and Bryce Dallas Howard. Three people are touched by death in different ways. George, played by Matt Damon, who is a blue collar American, has a special connection with the afterlife.

I always sort of have issues with afterlife movies because it’s all just wild speculation because no one really actually has anything to go on. But, if you’re going to put a dubious subject matter in the hands of somebody, you’re going to want it to be in Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon’s hands.
