First Listen: Kings Of Leon’s New Album Come Around Sundown

The new album from Kings of Leon titled Come Around Sundown is scheduled for release on October 19th, that’s in eight days as I’m writing this. Eight days is too long, unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about that.
Oh wait, it turns out you can stream the entire new album right now!
“
I would go home at night, and I would think, This music that we’re making, is anyone going to be interested in it?
”
I would describe myself as a casual fan of the band, and I have to say the effort on their fifth album is remarkable. I’m only a few songs in and its hard to believe the lyrics for the album were ad-libbed. In fact, fan reviews have been particularly praising the lyrics of the new album along with the songs “Pyro” and “Pickup Truck.” The album already has a popular following and a significant amount of praise from fans. Interestingly enough though, frontman Caleb Followill was questioning whether or not people would even be interested in the new music.
“At times I was a little fearful, I’ll be honest,” Followill said. “I would go home at night, and I would think, ‘This music that we’re making, is anyone going to be interested in it?’ And I was scared at times because I would feel like it sounded kind of big, and I didn’t want it to have the big epic sound that people would expect from us. And the thing is, we were not at all trying to do that.”
Well, why not judge the album for yourself? Check it out below and be sure to pick up the album when its released on October 19th.
Missed what the band had to say about the album? They did an interview discussing the album below.

Very mellow. Liked it, but I really miss old KOL rock’n'roll a’la Aha Shake Heartbreak. Was hoping the new album would have me dancing… instead is mellows and sooths.

back down south is amazing. they are probably one of the only real rock and roll bands left and thank god for them not giving in to their stardom and making this album too “poppy.” definitely picking this up on the 19th

Jon, I agree with you so much. I do like very many “rock” bands of today. However, they have stayed true to themselves, and that’s why I love them.
