Sonic Youth “Kool Thing” – Kat’s Box

Tonight the Hollywood Bowl will rock with the awesome sounds of Sonic Youth, Pavement and No Age.
You know this song from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and as downloadable content for Rock Band and it was one of the earliest and by far one of the coolest moments when punk rock and hip hop collided.
The appearance of Chuck D on the song came down to plain old serendipity as Public Enemy just happened to be recording down the hall from Sonic Youth.
“Kool Thing” was the first major label single from Sonic Youth off their album GOO. Word is the song refers to LL Cool J even though his name is never mentioned. The lyrics “I don’t think so,” are very “Goin’ Back to Cali” as is the video.
