Thankfully I got to the side stage for Suicidal Tendencies early because the photo pit was jammed pack with photographers.
Chants of “S-T” began when members of the band were seen hanging out with their families off to the side of the stage right before they were about to go on. Those chants were met with the intro of “Possessed to Skate,” one of the most classic Suicidal songs ever.
Mike Muir still has the energy he had when he wrote and recorded all of the bands classic songs. He was running back and forth across the stage non-stop, and went nuts when the band got into “Institutionalized,” another KROQ classic.
Memories of playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater emerged when they played “Cyco Vision.” The pit was wild, and much like Black Pacific, had a ton of hot women gyrating in the crowd.
The thing that amazed me most were the number of young kids that were there and decked out in Suicidal gear…flipped bills and all. It makes me happy knowing that members of today’s youth continues to be exposed to good music, and legendary punk bands like Suicidal Tendencies will continue to make an impact on people’s lives.
I was kind of bummed that they only had a 30 minute set, but the anticipation of heading over to see Rise Against was enough to succumb that feeling.

My old bones were rejuvenated. One of the best shows of the weekend. They should have had main stage billing right after Bad Religion.
