I really didn’t know a whole lot about the Danish trio New Politics other than their catchy dance/rock single “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,” but after watching them kill their set on the Monster Stage, this underrated band is now a major blip on my radar.

These guys didn’t need any outrageous gimmicks to get the crowd’s attention, they kept it simplistic with only a guitarist, a beast of a Norwegian drummer and one of the most energetic and crazy frontman I’ve ever seen live.

Singer David Boyd rushed onstage to rev up the sparse crowd asking, “How’s everyone feeling, you ready to go nuts with us?! Let’s f**king do this!” as he started jumping and bouncing around the stage like a madman.

Let's f**king do this!
Words can hardly do justice to Boyd’s frantic energy on stage, but just to give you an idea, there wasn’t a song that went unpaired without a handstand, breakdancing or flips off the drum riser.

Boyd wasn’t the only one getting into the fun pop-punk music, New Politics engaged the crowd by getting fans to jump around, throw their hands up and even break into a whirling mosh-pit during “We Are The Radio.” It turned into a giant party once everyone started rocking out along with the band while reveling in the spritzes of cool mist coming from security.

This band definitely didn’t gather a big enough crowd I think they deserved, but those who crammed together under the shaded area in front of the stage left knowing they just witnessed something incredible.

And on a sidenote, the singer is super cute and generous to his fans, staying long after the set for a personal meet and greet for lucky fans.

watch NP for the next ten years and you won’t be able to see them for less than $80 and you can say, “I knew them when…”
