In this week’s edition of the Movie Beat, I review: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, You Again, and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

My pick of the week: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole:

Does it make me a little boy because I can’t wait to see this owl movie? It looks awesome! Owls are cool, and these owls talk! I’m really looking forward to this. The trailer really turns me on. This is based on a really popular series of books.

By all accounts, it’s Harry Potter-esque. Zack Snyder is the man behind this film. Hugo Weaving is one of the voices. The animation is brilliant. It’s brought to you by the people that brought you Happy Feet, which I also loved, and it’s in 3D. So you’ve got that going for you. AND you’ve got owls! This is like Lord of the Rings for owls!

You Again:

Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, Jaime Lee Curtis, Odette Yustman – it’s a babe fest, but I can’t. I couldn’t possibly. It is about Kristen Bell’s character – her brother is marrying the girl that made her life hell in high school. Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays her mom, had a similar experience in high school and THAT girl turns out to be the aunt of the girl (marrying the brother).

And you have Betty White as a hi-larious grandmother who is so over-sexed. She’s so old and says really inappropriate things, and nothing is funnier than an old woman acting sexy and trying to get laid. (sarcasm)

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps:

Sequel to Wall Street by director Oliver Stone. Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) is out of prison after going away for some insider trading and now he’s back in the world of high finance. Shia LaBeouf plays his young protégé, and Josh Brolin plays Gekko’s arch-enemy.

I grow weary of Oliver Stone sometimes, but I will go to see this because of the actors and the performances look terrific, and Carrie Mulligan is also in this film playing Gekko’s daughter.
