It’s been a long time since the band’s heyday of Siamese Dream in 1993. The Smashing Pumpkins are known for having their ups and downs (and personnel changes), however Billy Corgan has remained the driving force for over two decades.

Whether or not he’s romantically involved with Jessica Simpson (we’ll leave that to the tabloids), Corgan is relevant again with a new band, tour and material.

68,737,499 plays from 1,831,336 listeners shows strong evidence that the SP fanbase is alive and well. Here’s a breakdown of their top tracks, with “1979″ leading the way with 10,367 plays last week alone.

Corgan recently said, “If you’re out there and not playing new music, you should be a bit shamed.” So, to back it up he released his new tune, “Spangled,” which you can download for free on Free MP3 of the Day.
