Sometimes we get hooked on songs for one reason or another and they became daily affirmations, something that helps us find focus or a way to express a deep seeded desire or state of mind. These are the kind of songs that find you when you need them most and when you least expect them. They are comforting, kind of like a cold beer with a good friend.

I love these kind of songs.

There’s not a second of the day that goes by recently, that I don’t want to hear Lissie’s cover of “Pursuit of Happiness”. Mind you, it’s originally done by Kid Cudi, so it doesn’t really fit the strict rock diet that I usually adhere to, but it is my favorite song in the world right now and I believe that anyone that appreciates a good song, will understand why this song hits the spot.

The lyrics. The lyrics are honest, insubordinate, and raw.

I heard this song a while back, but a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon it again and ever since, it’s been a companion and cool-headed buddy to me.

“People told me slow my roll, I’m screaming out f*ck that!”

This same chick also did a decent cover of ‘Bad Romance.’ Only version of a Lady Gaga song I’ll have on MY iPod…

I seen Lissie perform earlier this year. She opened for City & Colour, and was amazing.
