Travis Pastrana Breaks Mt. Washington Rally Record By 20 Seconds

Navigating the terrain of New Hampshire’s Mt. Washington to reach the 6,288 foot summit would be considered a daunting task, but not for Travis Pastrana.
On September 8th, he broke the world record in 6 min, 20.5 seconds, with an average speed of nearly 72 mph. Not only did he surpass the benchmark time by 20 seconds; he also did it on his first try.
Travis Pastrana and his co-driver carefully navigated through Mt. Washington Auto Road and took notes on every single twist and turn, bump and jump. The reason? If the notes weren’t accurate, one wrong move would send them off the cliff.
Leave it to excellent driving of Travis Pastrana and his rally car; a Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru Impreza WRX STI to maneuver through more than 100 turns to reach the summit.
If reading about this trek sounds interesting enough, wait until you watch the video. Red Bull’s video team has every angle covered of this visceral mountain hike. While watching, be sure to check out the “This Car Climbed Mt. Washington” sticker inside the rally car.
