Wow. I like Linkin Park, but this song is pretty weak if you ask me…

    Paco!
    September 5, 2010 1:54 pm

Ditto. It sounds less like how LP combines metal, rock and rap, and more like just rap with a little screaming from Chester.
    What happened?

You can’t expect anything good with Linkin Park anymore but this is (imo) the best song out of the three new songs

*sigh* I miss the old LP sound. So far I’m not at all following the direction they are going in with Wretches and Kings. I get the calypso thing, but this is sooooooo not them, and its not a very likeable song. I even had to listen to The Catalyst at least twice to connect with it as well. I had the same problem with the album they came out with just before this one. I understand the need to experiment with different sounds and styles, but come on guys, don’t get too far away from the things that originally made you one of the most amazing bands in the universe!

I don’t like how chest sounds so like Jamaican and even mike at times but besides that it sounds good. I don’t know if thats from overproduction or what not but the beat is sick.
Not as good as The Catalyst.

Had the opportunity to hear the entire album last Tuesday. It’s definitely different from their first two albums but if I wanted to hear the same thing over and over again, I’d play those CDs. I’m excited that LP has decided to push the envelope. I’ll admit I need some more time with the music, but I’m digging a lot of what I heard.

Amy
September 2, 2010 9:24 pm

Wow, this song is really…..different…..not what I’m used to from LP but still not completely bad. I had to listen to The Catalyst several times before it grew on me.

Song is brilliant and a bit creepy at the same time. Fantastic sound though – they got all the pieces right on this one

September 2, 2010 11:27 pm

Wow. I hope this is a one-off, and the rest of the album is classic, noisy, rocking LP. Not digging this one at all.

September 3, 2010 12:39 pm

Don’t like this song. Sounds too much hip hoppy. May be that’s the direction they’re going but definitely like Catalyst better.

September 3, 2010 1:14 pm

The band seems to be using more drum machine beats than drum sets.

Mike
September 3, 2010 2:01 pm

It’s not a bad song. The more you listen to it, the more it grows on you. I like how they’re trying new things, I’m sure the album will be great like the rest of them.

September 3, 2010 3:08 pm

I am happy they are experimenting and trying new things but this song sounds like a B side…

steve
September 3, 2010 7:49 pm

Wow. This is bad. First, “The Catalyst” sounds like a Nine Inch Nails knock-off…Now this song sounds like someone wanted to be like 311 but failed and came off sounding like Limp Bizkit.

So, I am sure KROQ will be over-playing it soon.

    Trevor
    September 4, 2010 2:35 am

Limp Bizkit? lol they sound way different than this

September 3, 2010 11:15 pm

hmmmm industrial rock? or hip hop? cant really tell
but this song is very dull……got absolutely no ups and downs, this kinda worries me bout the new album

Alex
September 4, 2010 1:44 am

The Fort Minor feel and LP’s Reanimation CD are definitely evident in this new song (for people saying they don’t see the old LP) And for those looking for a better version of The Catalyst see Alex McMillan’s remix – download worthy. Change is progress. True fans will grow with their band. Keep bringin’ it LP, I’m ready for the journey.

ya this sounds like they probably remixed the hell out of it. And i love shinoda so im digging this for sure

    CzM
    September 7, 2010 12:46 pm

Lets not be silly and equate yourself as being a “true fan” because you don’t object to their new sound. A true fan is honest and supportive and wants nothing but the best for their favorite band. For most of us this is obviously not a sound we are connecting to or were expecting from LP. But that doesn’t mean that we like them any less.

Trevor
September 4, 2010 2:28 am

Dunno what to think about it, doesnt sound like Linkin Park at all. It also sounds like a mix between Rage Against the Machine and Hollywood Undead (especially Dove and Grenade from HU)

September 5, 2010 9:35 pm

I wonder if it’s too late to remove this song from the CD. Truly dreadful. Hopefully, this track will not be played too often on KROQ, even though they seem to be kissing LP’s ass extra hard these days, what with the “Breakfast with Linkin Park” thing and all.

September 6, 2010 5:26 am

LP, you guys are killing me with this new sound. I just started to like the Catalyst and do not know if I dig this song. Sorry

its awesome that a band that started out just singing about personal angst have grown into fully talented writers about many topics, including politics

MAT
September 6, 2010 12:29 pm

This is terrible!!! I thought Catalyst was bad… I white dudes trying to sound like their jamaicans.. This must be one of rick rubans ideas. Linkin Park is falling off.

It’s not that they dont like Linkin Park, its quite the opposite, they love Linkin Park but they haven’t made any music like they used to, and everyone is upset over that

      Carlos
      September 7, 2010 10:14 pm

yeaaa i know but still, the music isnt that bad…

You have such nerve! First of all, its called Freedom of Speech, so if I or anyone else who plants a comment on this site feels like sharing their distaste for these new LP songs, we are free to speak our minds. You bring hate and ugly to this board of people who for the most part are just speaking their minds. Its obvious from your filthy choice of words and disturbing level of hostility which of us on here was raised by poo flinging monkeys! Most of our grandma’s taught us to keep our mouths shut if we can’t say something nice, but the last time I checked primates were incapable of speech so I guess that explains why you are totally incapable of behaving like the rest of us!!!

      September 7, 2010 8:42 pm

To be more specific, that last comment was for the one who calls himself Carlos.

    @Carlos
    September 7, 2010 3:04 p.m.

Honestly it is none of your business how people do or do not react to the new LP sound. You have no right to tell people what to do. Again, we are here exercising our right to freeness of speech and if we want to comment on whether or not we like the new sound, is purely our right to do. As far as your “advice” to go back and listen to the old stuff, get off of your high horse, man! I’m not sure who died and put you in charge of what people should or shouldn’t do with their opinions, but take some of your own medicine. You don’t have to respond to our comments. If you don’t like them, STOP READING THEM!!!

I agree with Paco; partly cuz he has an awsome name!, but seriously, i have liked linkin park for along time and these three songs that they have let out early sound nothing like the traditional linkin park that we have all come to know and love.
