MGD64 Best KROQ Album Of All Time – The Winner Is Crowned

After a few hundreds votes were cast and online fans bases clashed, the winner of the MGD64 Best KROQ Album Of All Time has been determined.
The final four came down to U2‘s Joshua Tree vs. Radiohead‘s OK Computer and The Foo Fighters The Colour and the Shape vs. The Killers Hot Fuss.
It’s clear that although U2 isn’t necessarily considered “cutting edge” any more (excuse the Edge punn), the band’s fans are as rabid as ever. At first, it looked like Radiohead’s OK Computer was running away with the win. Then, out of nowhere the U2 fans woke up and cast their votes by the dozen. It appears as though the same good fortune happened to Foo Fighters. Their fan base woke up and voted. But in the end, one band’s album prevailed.
The MGD64 Best KROQ Album Of All Time is U2‘s The Joshua Tree.
Still to this day, The Joshua Tree has the ability to send shivers up your spine when listened all the way through. Track for track, there’s not a single song that falls below an A+.

U2 is a great band, there’s no doubt that The Joshua Tree is their best album. I really enjoyed doing this tournament. Keep up the good work MGMD.

how this wins over albums like appetite for destruction, nevermind, blood sugar sex magik, songs for the deaf, smash, or a choice few metallica records is beyond me. joshua tree is “pop” music, not rock. not saying U2 is not a good band, their stuff prior to josha tree, and some stuff after, is way better…

WTF?!?!?!??!?! U2 is as “rock” as you can get. Metallica and GnR are Metal and never should have been on this list in the first place. QotSA, RHCP, Offspring and Nirvana all have GREAT albums, and any of them could have been top five. But to say the Joshua Tree isn’t rock makes you look ignorant.

Yeah, you make NO sense when you say that U2′s Joshua Tree isn’t “rock” music. You are too biased towards the albums, and their sound, that you announced on your list. Take a listen to the Joshua Tree and take a look at the list of biggest selling “rock” albums of 1987 and you will see that The Joshua Tree is number one in that category where Appetite is listed under Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. Also if you look at a few critic reviews, they will list the Joshua Tree in the Top 100, Top 50 and in VH1′s case the top 20, all time albums list. Although I love the Joshua Tree I really think they should have had Achtung Baby on here as well since it was an absolutely great album and heavier sounding than Joshua Tree. It was also listed as the best album of the last 25 years from Spin Magazine, and also listed in the top 100 albums of all time in Rolling Stone and VH1, so there is no excuse for it to be missing in this countdown as well.
