I used to have a real problem with cover songs – I really didn’t like them. Now, oddly, I really love new versions of old favorites – and I think this is a particularly great example.

You’re right on that one Sluggster! Good job. Thumbs ups and all that noise. 311 knows how to rock the love jams! Especially one as killer as The Cure’s. That song always brings up memories of the past and my crush on this babe I was down with for that one great summer in 97′. But 311′s version… although has some tainted memories of my last Ex, really doesn’t remind me of neither memories or Ex’s. When I hear the cover version I only think of one thing…a really chilled back ocean front party. I don’t know why. And its not because of their music video or because they’re 311. Its the way the song is played. It almost envokes a laidback nature filled with good vibes and a groove that not too many bands can kick out. A great band, and an even greater song, yes, as a cover song. My hat’s off to you Sluggo! You did it right today. Now I’ll go torque a nug in honor of good tunes and good times… Keep it Real dude! Blazin’! :P
