New KROQ Music: The xx “Crystalised”

Originally a 4-piece band from London, The xx began setting out to make music based off their mutual love of “dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B.” The band has since dropped their second guitarist, leaving the lineup with Romy Madley Croft (vocals, lead guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass guitar), and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC sampler).
They put out their first album, xx, last summer and received great reviews of it, even though it was recorded and produced in a garage. Their single “Crystalised” recently made its way into our music director’s hands, and now you can hear it on rotation on KROQ too!

Just like everybody else, I’m glad you found this band. I’ve heard them back in January and had to order the CD online since no store carried it. You can now find it everywhere.
