U2 returned to touring August 6th in grand fashion as they played new music in their first show back after Bono’s back injury. The new songs titled “North Star,” and “Glastonbury,” were played to a crowd of over 40,000 in Turin, Italy. They also played a new intro piece, “Return of the Stingray Guitar,” which leads into “Beautiful Day.”

According to U2′s website, the new song Glastonbury is “inspired by the UK summer festival,” and the song North Star is Bono’s “love song to the universe.” U2 will continue its 360 Tour in Europe and return to North America in May.

All three of these new songs are outstanding!
Also of note, is that “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” (the Batman song) was played live for the first time since 1998.
I can’t wait for them to come back around next year. They reportedly have a new album (Songs of Ascent) that may be out late this year.
