Simply put, the past week or so has been incredible. I got to hang at the X Games for four days straight, getting to see some of the best action sports riders on the planet and some amazing music, including performances from Epicenter bands A Day To Remember and The Knux, as well as Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys.

Add in the two open bars I managed to weasel my way in to, the suite I was in with the guys from Nitro Circus at Staples Center, all the free stuff I acquired and the SMOKIN’ hot girls everywhere and you get one hell of a weekend.

Here are my daily recaps:

Wednesday- Finished the last of the X Games content for the site and made my way over to the Nokia Theater for the X Games Kickoff Bash. DJ Jeremiah Red was on site spinning music while fans took part in a silent auction and gobbled up free food and drinks. Some pros stopped by for some autographs and photo ops as well. Check out the photo gallery here.

Thursday- Kids were there and lined up as early as 10am to see A Day To Remember. The second the gates were open, there were at least 15 kids who all rushed to get up front for the show and ended up waiting about 4 hours for the band to come on. I wandered around for a while and caught some of the Skateboard Street and BMX Park Elimination rounds, then headed back to witness the craziest performance of the weekend on the Radio X Stage.

A Day To Remember

Nicole Alvarez was on site to introduce the band, and immediately about 4 circle pits started the second the band came on. The energy from everyone was super cool and kids looked like they were having the times of their lives. Check out the photo gallery of ADTR’s performance here. The second their set was over, a MASSIVE line formed for the signing they did at the KROQ tent. They stayed for at least an hour and signed stuff for everyone. That ended my day at X Games, as I had to head back to the studio to help film their acoustic session at the studios. Check out the photo recap of Day 1 here.

Friday- I showed up right as Rock The Bells artist Yelawolf went on. Stryker was on site doing a live broadcast and interviewing tons of the athletes, including Jolene Van Vugt, Kyle Loza, Ronnie Faist and more. Made my way into the Nokia Theater to check out some of the Vert action going on, then headed over to the Staples Center to check out the Moto X action from the CBS Radio box. There was a pleasant surprise when I showed up, the Nitro Circus crew were all there hangin’ out while we all enjoyed some cold ones and some gnarly Moto X Best Trick action.

Right before Paris Rosen was about to drop in before his brutal crash during a front-flip attempt, one of the Nitro Circus guys said, “This could go 50% real bad or 50% real good.” Unfortunately, it was the worse of the two that prevailed and Rosen was carried out on a stretcher. The entire Staples Center went dead quiet as he was laying there motionless. It was really eerie being in there. I’m just glad he ended up being ok. Ended the night with a few drinks at the Yard House.

Saturday- Today was super crowded! At about 1pm I got an email from ESPN saying that the LA Live events were all sold out. We went and checked out the HP x Beats By Dre Lounge and tested out their new products and snacked on some free food.

One of the X Games hosts took me and a few other people up onto the VIP deck to watch the BMX Park Finals. Those guys were going huge and I had a front row seat for all of it! Check out the photos I got here. Everything at LA Live was wrapped up pretty early, but apparently the Coliseum was the place to be early Saturday evening for all the Rally events.

Sunday- I was running a little late Sunday, and arrived JUST after Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys had performed. Everyone who was there said it was awesome and I was pretty bummed that I missed out. The Knux performed soon after though, and I had never seen them before yesterday. There were some technical issues happening that kind of pissed off the singer, but they were pretty cool. I’m sure they will sound way better at Epicenter. Check out the photo gallery of The Knux and random shots from the weekend here.
