Mayor Villaraigosa Falls Off His Bike And Gets A Boo Boo

Filed Under:

What happens when you are riding your bike and a taxi cab cuts you off? You fall and hurt yourself. That’s exactly what happened to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa this weekend.

The Mayor is recovering from a bicycle accident where he fell off of his bike and broke his elbow. A taxi driver pulled out in front of him on Venice Boulevard (just down the street from the KROQ studios), causing the mayor to slam on his brakes and fall off of his bike.

Bicyclists have been complaining to the LAPD about collisions like this for more than a year, an article in LA WEEKLY reported. Apparently, no one told them that streets were designed for cars to drive on.

Kevin & Bean spoke with the “Mayor” this morning to find out exactly what happened.

Yeah its an old bianchi frame converted to a fixed gear. fixed gear bikes are either built up buy the hipster seen, or you can get a new fixed gear/track bike at your local bike store. Coates and incycle are great shops in pomona and san dimas. as far as la goes i dont know the local shops but im sure there is something. go check out what available if not you can always ebay/craiglist parts and build your own
