Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam And Weezer Support Anti-Nuke Movie

KROQ artists including Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Weezer and R.E.M. are supporting a new film called Countdown to Zero and want their message to be heard loud and clear: No more nukes!
“Nuclear weapons must be abolished before they abolish us.”
Additional musicians in support of this movie include OK Go, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Circa Survive and Tom Morello. Their goal is to urge fans to watch the documentary and witness before their eyes the escalating global nuclear arms crisis from the bomb’s creation in the early 1940′s to the terrorists and rogue nations who are trying to acquire them now.

The film is directed by Lucy Walker (Devil’s Playground, Blindsight) and produced by Academy Award winner Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Basterds, An Inconvenient Truth). The movie features interviews with world leaders including President Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf, and Tony Blair.
It opens July 23 in Washington and New York, and in 20 more cities across the nation on July 30.

Pearl Jam lent their song “The Fixer” to the film’s closing credits, while other artists recorded pubic service announcements about the documentary and its mission statement: Inspire demand for a world without nuclear weapons.
