Just when you thought Linkin Park may have finally stepped out of the spotlight, news of a new album, single, and release dates for both are thrown at us with furious vigor.

Even if you thought they were on hiatus, you really think they’d fade out at the height of their career? Guess again, because they’re back with a new quasi-conceptual kick, combined with their signature Shinoda dash of rap and rock.

Want to know when you can get your hands on the new Linkin Park? Hold your breath after the jump.

Linkin Park Announces Album Title And Release Date

Two years after Minutes to Midnight, their follow-up elephant baby finally has a name and a due date. A Thousand Suns is out September 14th at your favorite record store and streaming digitally. Their first single, “The Catalyst,” hits radio airwaves August 2nd.

Because we are close with Mike Shinoda and company, KROQ might have something a little something extra special in store for that debut, so cross your fingers!

For now, you can hang tight for some soon-to-be released downloadable music clips off Linkin Park‘s MySpace, so you can throw your own creative spin on. The goal is to get remixed clips submitted by their most creative and loyal fans to eventually be placed as a bonus song on Midnight. The winner gets their song added to the tracklist and celebrity status will be had.

In the meantime, check out what the Park is doing for humanity here.

What other band has had so many good songs while only releasing three major albums? Each album they release has minimally like 4 or 5 hits that deservedly get played a lot on KROQ.

Oh great. As if the station doesn’t play enough Linkin Park. Wish you guys would play some better music. I like how there’s album release dates on the side of the main page and the station doesn’t play half those artists.

Which artists are you referring to? We pretty much play every one of them…
