Silversun Pickups Weigh In On LeBron Sweepstakes

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wonder if the Silversun Pickups watch sports?” Of course not.

But if you’re the one freak that happened to say yes, then today is your lucky day. In a recent interview, SSPU drummer, Chris Guanlao, discussed his love of basketball and even made his prediction on where he thinks LeBron James will end up.

Guanlao said “I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays in Cleveland,” he says. “But I don’t know if they can bring anybody else in. It’s clear that he can’t do it by himself, so why wouldn’t he leave?”

Turns out, the whole band are pretty big sports fans. Guanlao said, “We love watching sports stuff, it keeps us busy on the road.” I don’t see how they aren’t already busy touring the world with Against Me!, but apparently they manage to get their sports fill even when they are playing.

When the band was performing during Game 6 of the Finals, Guanlao had to think up something to get updates. As he explains, “I had my drum tech, Scott, give me updates while we were playing. He actually wrote down on the setlist where I should look for him in between songs and he’d flash me the score.”

Well there you have it. Even rock stars need their sports fix.
