We asked and you answered. The best KROQ band of all time is No Doubt. The Orange County band definitely has L.A. roots, giving it the edge in the contest, but who were they up against and how did it all pan out?

With such mega hits as “Just A Girl,” “Don’t Speak” and “Spiderwebs” fr0m their debut album Tragic Kingdom, No Doubt has truly made their mark on the music industry, selling over 15 million copies of the album worldwide.
The MGD64 Best KROQ Band Of All Time contest pinned the best KROQ artists against one another, leaving No Doubt standing in the end. The final battle went down between No Doubt and Sublime, a truly worthy advisary, as the two bands toured together early in their careers.

i think this is a perfect example why idiots shouldnt be allowed to vote , it screws up the truth , you are right rhcp shouldnt lose out to system , nirvana shouldnt lose to no doubt , this head to head bracketed contest is flawed , at worst it should have been a double or triple elimination , but the powers that be @ kroq prolly arent bright enough to figure that out

No Doubt that’s surprising. I think Nirvana would have been on the top if it were a few years back. My personal favorites on the list are The Strokes, Pearl Jam, The Clash, Soundgarden, and AiC

It’s only appropriate that it came down to Sublime and No Doubt, as they are local bands that became household names because of So Cal stations like Kroq. I like Pearl Jam and Nirvana, amongst all those on the list, but it’s not a Seattle radio station. I could see Green Day winning for SF’s Live 105, etc. It was between two great So Cal bands and No Doubt won. I think the ruling sounds like it went the way it should have. Congrats, No Doubt!

No Doubt sold out 4 shows at Verizon and 3 at Universal last summer. Of course they are the biggest KROQ band of all time!

Wow, Mode was in a near impossible bracket to win. Up against The Smiths in the first round, then Pearl Jam in the second round along with bands like The Clash and Radiohead also in the same bracket……no wonder they didn’t make it that far.

I like No Doubt, but personally I don’t think of them as the greatest KROQ band of all time. But being that they came out on top of 63 other bands, you gotta give them props. So CONGRATS to No Doubt, but…

4) Red Hot Chili Peppers
3) Muse
2) Green Day

When I think of KROQ, these are the bands that I think of.

The only reason the Foo’s are around is because Kurt Cobain isn’t. I love to Foo Fighters, but I think half the people here agree. Kurt Cobain alone is more popular than them.

just look at the first “Top 106.7 KROQ Bands” list from 1997.
Who else has been relevant for *thirty years* on KROQ? (besides Jed the Fish and Scott Mason)

no doubt is a good band, but i don’t think that they’re kroq’s best band of all time. the offspring, green day, rhcp, nirvana… all of these bands helped change music, and i dont think no doubt had the same influence

I would not have picked No Doubt but whatever – they won. I am just glad it was not the most overrated band of all time – Nirvana or the band that must have made a deal with the devil to be played on KROQ so much – Red Hot Chili Peppers.

This hole thing was crap from the start. I can see if it had been “Favorite KROQ Band” of all time, but no, it was BEST. No Doubt is good but far from the best. With as much RHCP as you guys play i was always under the impression that they owned the station. Nirvana, Green Day, MUSE and Sublime get more air time than No Doubt. I’m calling shenanigans on this one.
