Passion Pit Covers Smashing Pumpkins ‘Tonight Tonight’ For Levi’s
Levi’s has invited today’s pioneering musicians to re-make the classic songs we remember oh so well. Passion Pit has hopped on the bandwagon with The Shins, Dirty Projectors and many more for the 2010 Revival Recordings.

Levi’s says, “Lauded elctro-pop band Passion Pit have re-crafted the Smashing Pumpkins‘ ‘Tonight, Tonight’ in a manner that is at once reverent and full of daring. Michael Angelakos’ affinity for the song is clear in the way his high voice hems to the original melody. But where the Pumpkins went for ambitious grandiosity, Angelakos submerges the song into an electronic world of synth.”
Yes, that’s right Angelakos features his trademark high-pitched vocals that even surpass Billy Corgan’s. ‘Tonight, Tonight’ originally appeared on the 1995 album Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness trading guitars and strings for Pit’s usual synth-heavy approach.
