stryker gavin World Premiere: New Music From Bush Gavin Rossdale Visits KROQ

As you may have heard, KROQ‘s Stryker had a special guest in studio today. He promised someone who we haven’t heard from in quite some time and who has also sold over ten million records.

But of course, Stryker was talking about none other than Gavin Rossdale of the band Bush. Gavin stopped by to World Premiere the first Bush song in 9 years (since 2001’s Golden State), a song titled “Afterlife.” He also talked about how Bush’s first performance since 2002 will be at Epicenter Twenty Ten.  There is a “massive excitement” that comes with hearing songs for the first time on the radio Gavin said.

Bush is scheduled to release their new album “Everything Always Now” in October of this year.

Listen to “Afterlife” by hitting more!

Not that I’m not happy about that, I am, but is Mark Hoppus not gonna talk or something? Is he not there?

Michael
June 21, 2010 5:47 pm

That was real weak. “Oh, we have a guest up next blahblahblah, new song blahblahblah” around the time that the announcement Mark Hoppus tweeted about was supposed to be occurring. More Mark’s fault than KROQ’s, but disappointing nonetheless.

June 21, 2010 6:56 pm

Im a much bigger BUSH fan than Blink (but follow them pretty closely), didnt Mark tweet that they were using July and August to finish recording & writing the Blink record? So, they would still be far away from having a single ready….

“June & July are blink-182 rehearsal and writing new songs months before the European tour!”

OMG! I love it! We need you to come to CANADA during your tour!

I’m so excited about this news! As a die-hard Bush fan, I was heartbroken when they broke up. But now that No Doubt’s back together and Bush, maybe they’ll do a tour together like they did way back when. That would be AWESOME.

Matthew Tait
June 22, 2010 3:29 am

Just keep listening to it. It ‘clicks’ after a while. Already, I think it surpasses any on his solo record. So that’s a very good sign …

Not liking this song…..Possibly I’m not going to be a fan of the new Gavin?!?! Step up Gavin, I have always been a huge fan!

Nowie
June 22, 2010 11:48 am

I love Bush, but this doesn’t sound like Bush. It sounds like a bonus track off of “Wanderlust”. I hope the album is up to Bush standards, and that ALL original members are on board.

Dana
June 22, 2010 11:57 am

I’m soooooo excited that BUSH is back! I’ve been waiting for this to happen for so long now. Can’t wait to see them live again! Already lovin the new song! =)

Im so pumped!!! (luv them!)

oldschool
June 22, 2010 4:22 pm

not diggin this so much as older Bush- he used to less commercial and more indie deep with more feeling- this seems quickly done with less passion- just scathing by–i love me some Gavin but im looking forward to at least one brooding deep song. or harder rockin song- not lovin this one. sorry fans. could be better.

Erika
June 22, 2010 4:28 pm

I can not put into words how overjoyed I am. All is (almost) right in the world again!!!

June 22, 2010 6:51 pm

I didn’t like the song the 1st time, I liked it the 2nd time and I loved it the 3rd time!!! Bush is back!!!

Jesse
June 22, 2010 8:38 pm

This doesn’t sound anything like old Bush,Glycerine,Machinehead,Everything Zen….Don’t get me wrong I’m glad their back together with a new album and yes a tour starting in the fall but this didn’t have the catchy grunge feeling of any Bush song from 1994-2002.I hope that they don’t disappoint me cuz I really enjoyed all their albums (except Deconstructed…which isn’t my kind of music) But let’s hope for the best anyways.

June 23, 2010 2:32 am

Guys, I don’t think Nigel would play on anything this lame so don’t hold your breath

Jake
June 23, 2010 8:12 am

Where is the ripping guitar and lyrics not centered around a hook? Bring back the Razorblade Suitcase mentality.

June 23, 2010 8:18 am

i got a time bomb , i got a time bomb.. the verses sound like the beck song time bomb,, and everything else sounds like a melting pot of everything from the last ten years.. but i guess it is a better song than anything on goldenstate

    danielle
    June 23, 2010 9:37 am

I actually loved goldenstate…it was my second favorite album…I also agree that this song does sound more like gavin’s solo stuff on Wonderlust…I was def hoping for more of a grunge and back to the heavier grungy aspects during the chorus, but i love Bush so much that I’m still exciting! But this is definitely a NEWER bush…I like their more raw stuf better..

Julio
June 23, 2010 10:44 am

Come on guys, give it a chance. Like Scott said, I didn’t like the first time, I liked it the second one and by the third one I already loved it. Yes it sounds different, but didn’t The Science of Things sound different way back then? Now I love that album as well. I have great expectations for what Bush has to bring us again in October…

Natalia Oliver
June 23, 2010 5:46 pm

Men I really love Bush and everything, but this song is not Bush anymore!! Is like Bush meet The Killers!!! =X I really hope the rest of this album will be the old Bush!! xxx

June 26, 2010 10:46 am

Lame song. Deceiving… Bush should’ve stayed in the 90′s box. Not because Gwen succeded that Gavin will, obviously.

Alexis
June 26, 2010 3:12 pm

OMG!! im sooooo happy!! i hit a deer, my gmom is about it die and im over-worked but THIS NEWS – and song- have TOTALLY helped me to turn things around!! SOOOOOooooo cannot wait for Oct!!! Welcome back, Boys!!

john
June 30, 2010 10:17 am

what happenned to plugging in ur guitar and making up a song in ten minutes? that was a formula that worked… i love bush, but this is too poppy and we miss the raw form of bush… i like this song, but maybe needs to be more primative… give us back the 90s bush

Steve
July 3, 2010 2:00 pm

Nice job Gavin and Co. I think you hit it spot on. Cory is a good pick too! Can’t wait to see you on the road again finally!

July 30, 2010 1:40 pm

Weak song for a band who’ve put out so many passionate hard rocking songs

Garon
August 1, 2010 6:24 pm

Unfortunately “Afterlife” sounds like it could have done by any one of a number of bands (including Blink) Nothing “signature” Bush about it. I’m disappointed. Hopefully the rest of the disc is better.

Chris
August 11, 2010 1:17 pm

Wow, Ive been a bush fan for years and when I heard that they were getting back together I was stoked beyond belief, but I gotta be honest….that song wasn’t what I was expecting. I remember back in 98 or 99 they released Spacetravel over the internet and I was stoked and the song was different, but good. This time Im not so sure.

Colby
September 10, 2010 10:52 pm

Liked Gavin on Apocalyptica’s “End of Me” better. Afterlife sounds like Bush from about 2:33 to 3:07. I bought the mp3 though because I love Bush…the band, not the President…

pete
September 22, 2010 4:48 pm

bush is one of my all time favourite bands too. i love every song they’ve ever done. But this is not Bush. this is just gavin. with dave on drums. I’ll still support them and look forward to hearing the rest of the album. But man! The lyrics are NOT good!. The song doesn’t evoke any emotion. It’s not going to please old bush fans, OR get radio play. It’s the worst possible scenerio. I WISH I could say otherwise

Mike
November 20, 2010 8:30 am

Tragedy…..I really hope the other songs on this new album are better than this one.

November 29, 2010 9:25 am

Waaaaaaay better than a lame-ass Blink-182 track..

    December 12, 2010 12:50 pm

Thanks Mike agreed ! apparently uriah doesn’t know about the original BUSH ! Must be a wimpy Gavin fan!

Uriah
December 6, 2010 6:37 pm

I’m quite pleased with their new single. It sort of keeps to the original Bush. Meaning, they still have what it takes to prove to us that they can still provide something a little different than all the rest. By far, bush is still my favorite band of all time. Bush rocks!

    pm
    December 12, 2010 12:42 pm

    what! are u stupid

Nigel
January 6, 2011 8:29 pm

I’m always in support of bands evolving, but the chorus killed it for me. GAVIN, when you write songs, think, “Is this memorable and unique?” Wanderlust sounds SOO generic and predictable. I can tell you’re going in the right direction here, but this surely isn’t your best and you know it :/ Try to stand out from the flock more. We’ve seen so much unoriginality in the past decade (movie remakes, recycled music) and we’re all craving something interesting. I hope the rest of the album is better. You’ll always have fans, but a comeback requires something more. Much love.
