The Dead Weather did indeed bring the rain on Saturday, though it only lasted through the first song. Otherwise the sun dominated on a hot & steamy Bonnaroo Saturday. Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff held off the clouds by playing his anthem “I Can See Clearly Now,” during his early main stage set.

Saturday was a great day for singers, with afternoon sets by Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers, and an evening lineup topped off by the one and only Stevie Wonder. Particularly enjoyable were Marcus Mumford and the lads, who sang their beautiful harmonies to an adoring crowd at the packed That Tent. Check out our Bonnaroo Saturday photo gallery for more shots from their performance.

Folk legend John Prine performed at That Tent on Saturday, in a set attended by compatriot Kris Kristofferson, himself a Bonnaroo performer that day. Prine also sat down for an exclusive backstage interview with our friends at WXRT – check their Backstage at Bonnaroo pages to hear it.

The Other Tent played host to a full day of World music on Saturday, with performances from the Mexican Institute of Sound, Bomba Estereo, the always-fun Ozomatli, and the incredible spectacle of Aterciopelados. Though it was impossible to choose a favorite, Los Amigos Invisibles nearly stole the show with their high-energy set and nasty guitar solos.

Always one to rise to the occasion, Rivers Cuomo led Weezer through a raging late afternoon set on the Which Stage. After downright killing a set full of Weezer classics, they launched into a bizarre cover of MGMT‘s “Kids,” which was interrupted when Cuomo donned a long blonde whig and led the crowd in a Lady Gagamedley. Weezer wrapped it up with their classic “Buddy Holly” and went out with a massive four-man drum jam on the upper riser of the stage, sending the crowd into a fury.

Upcoming posts include news of Saturday’s big headline sets from Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z, plus more twisted tales from Bonnaroo late-nite.
