Weenie Roast Interview: Spoon

Only a couple of months ago, the members of veteran band Spoon were sitting opposite Stryker at the KROQ House for Coachella.  Britt Daniel and Rob Pope returned excited to play once again this time for KROQ’s Weenie Roast.  Not that they need to, they can pretty much do whatever they want.

The crowd went crazy when Britt and Rob came on the KROQ stage (and then there’s me drooling over one of my fave bands ever.) Some “random, fun people” watched from the house pool as Stryker talked to the guys from Spoon about recently playing at Coachella and being out in LA in the sweltering sun once again for the Weenie Roast.

They talked about not exactly needing radio to attract their fan base, I mean with eight albums under their belt, these guys are pros in the biz and have a huge following from over the years that continues to grow.

We can do whatever we want.  It’s a beautiful day here and we love Southern California, commented Britt.

They also recently played at Madison Square Garden with Arcade Fire after they just casually called Britt up one day to see if they were down to play. Yeah, no big deal, they only played one of the biggest venues around with another huge indie group favorite.

Not only are they excited to play on the main stage at Weenie Roast, Britt and Rob are looking forward to watching some of the other acts including Devo after their performance.
