“Gary Coleman WIll Be Dead By Year’s End”
By now you’ve likely heard that 70s television icon Gary Coleman is dead (details here.) While it’s terribly sad when someone for whom you have some affection dies, today’s news is doubly sad. First because Gary was just 42 years old. And secondly, because his death seemed so avoidable.
I’ve expected today’s obituary since the most recent time we had Gary as a guest on the Kevin & Bean show earlier this year. In fact, I wrote about it in this space on January 25th and made the prediction then that he would be not live to see 2011. See that original post and find out why I thought so next.

We had former child star Gary Coleman on the show recently to talk about his latest direct-to-DVD movie. In this one he plays a midget, the latest sad project in a career that has had more valleys than peaks since his hit 70s show Different Strokes.
We’ve had Gary on a dozen times over the years but this was the first time I felt like it was probably the last time. He sounded miserable, beaten-down, and like there was a gun on him forcing him to promote a crappy movie he didn’t want to do but he desperately needed the money.
So that’s Gary yesterday, after being booked into a Utah jail. This story says the police were called after receiving reports of a “civil disturbance” but that he was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court in a previous case.
I’m calling it now. Gary Coleman will be dead by year’s end. He’s 41, almost unemployable, in poor health, with a failed marriage, and he can’t leave his house without someone saying “Whatchoo Talkin’ About Willis?,” a TV catchphrase from 35 years ago.
I’ve got March 11. What do you think?

Bean didn’t want his own prediction to come true. He was just sayin. Gary was in poor health. This is what happens to ppl with a short stature or ppl who are very tall. Wait a minute! How tall are you Bean?

We are a sick society. We would rather poke fun, make predictions, and rub “Whatchoo Talkin’ bout Willis in this mans face day after bloody day, then to reach out and help this obviously troubled man live a decent life. Actor aside, Different strokes aside. This man was a human being like the rest of us. I blame us all for his death.

First Gary Coleman. Now Dennis Hopper. Summer of Death 2.0 is sadly off to a great start. Any other predictions, Bean?

That’s just great Bean. A man is dead, someone’s spouse, someone’s estranged son, and all you can do is gloat about your hair ball prediction that you made a year ago. Pathetic Bean.
If I still had my Love Line show I would have done a tribute to the life and fame of Arnold, beloved and misunderstood soul.
R.I.P. whachoo talk’in bout Willis!
