Broken Bells Recruits Christina Hendricks For New Video

When the collaborative duo Broken Bells were looking to make their first music video, they, like almost every other artist out there, wanted to cast a hot chick.

With both members (producer Danger Mouse, and The Shin‘s James Mercer) being big fans of AMC’s Mad Men, they instantly thought of Christina Hendricks. Little did they know that she would actually say yes to the offer.

The futuristic video for “The Ghost Inside” revolves around a beautiful, hard-working android (Hendricks) looking to retire and move to a luxurious outer-space resort. With the price being more than she can handle, she starts selling off her expensive android body parts to pay for it.

So how did this all come about? Mercer and Danger Mouse kinda threw out the idea and waited for a rejection. Mercer told Entertainment Weekly, “We assumed we would ask and that’d be it. She’s got to be so busy, and who the hell are we? But she said yes! Turns out she’s a fan of our record. “ Turns out she's a fan of our record.
” James Mercer via EW ” In the video, Hendricks’ android character envisions what this lush life would be like, but things don’t really go according to plan, which brings her face to face with the musical duo on screen. Mercer wouldn’t give any details as to what happens next, so it looks like we’ll just have to wait for the video’s release to see how the plot plays out.
