Psycho Mike’s Motorcycle Hunt

Filed Under:

mikesmotorcyclehunt1 Psycho Mikes Motorcycle Hunt

I was rappin’ with Mike today in the hallway and he was telling me about his new pad and how he now lives so much closer to the station. He went on to say that he’s in the market for a bike. “A motorcycle?” I asked. “Hell yeah!” he replied. Now he had my attention…

I’m like, “Whatcha lookin’ at?”

He really didn’t have any idea. He knew it was going to have to be something with some character. I asked if he was lookin’ at a sportbike like ZX-10 or GSX-R? His reply, “That’s like asking me to listen to Limp Bizkit while driving a Hummer. That ain’t gonna work.”

Look, the guys wears skinny jeans and goofy hats so he’s got to find something to fit the motif. It seemed like he was thinking about a vintage Triumph, Harley, maybe even a Vespa. He’s got a new place by the beach so he’s not really looking at canyon riding or draggin’ knees.

So, here’s the question for ya… What kind of bike do you suggest for Mike?

i dont ride but a Vespa sounds cool. Also maybe one of those 3 wheeler bikes i’ve seen running around. You dont even need a motorcycle license for those.

Cruisers are the way to go.

Hey, Mike… glad to hear you want to ride! I suggest you go to a shop and sit on a lot of bikes before you decide; you might find something that feels right that you never really considered before (that’s how I found my ride, a Kawasaki Vulcan 800). I bet you would really like a classic looking bike like a Triumph, Moto Guzzi, or Royal Enflield, but along the lines of a Cafe Racer. Just like the old saying, “Don’t fall in love with the first girl you f***”, don’t go out and buy the first bike you see. Whore it around first, buddy, and let me know how it works out.
Ride safe!

May 21, 2010 2:23 am

hm a guy wearing skinny jeans and a silly hat? doesnt look good on a classic or sport bike unless that classic is a vespa type scooter. i personally like vespas but am to tall and big to ride one. well i could but it would max out at 13 mph lol. also if he has never riden a bike before i recommend a class on safety and riding skills before he buys. sometimes they can let him check out a few types to get his mind set on one. for his style i recommend vespa style. but it all comes down to his choice. if he goes for something different his style would match a classic triumph over a gsxr.

Mike if your looking for a bike and it is your first I would like to suggest a Yamaha R6. It’s a 600cc motorcycle with enough power for any beginner. It’s not one of the big bike’s but will give you the respect your looking for while riding.

thanks,

Triumphs are the fixies of the motorcycle world, and cruisers are for douchbags. Get a BMW 650GS, or if you want to man up, a KTM Duke. Or go grunge and get a 2004 KLR 650 with faded bodywork. Perfect beach bike.

B Cuz Im AWESOME

A unicycle fits him.

May 21, 2010 2:25 pm

I have the PERFECT bike for Mike:
2000 Triumph Speed Triple
Roulette Green
Custom polished aluminum frame and mags
Black widow under seat exhaust
“Laguna Seca loud”
Collecting dust in our garage (I banned my husband from riding it after we had twins.)
Let’s make a deal.

If you want character, get a classic, like a Bobbed Ironhead or a Triumph, you can put your style into, and nothing is cooler then having a kicker on your bike to

This bike is pretty dope…. haven’t looked into it in a while. I think they stopped making the engine that’s shown in the pic’s but it’s still different than anything you’ll find on the road.
