Video: Crash Kings – Live At The Roxy

Crash Kings performed last night at the Roxy for KROQ’s Locals Only showcase and I stopped by for my first Crash Kings experience.
The lead singer, Tony Beliveau, plays the piano and a clavinet. Now you may be asking yourself, “WTF is a clavinet?” like I was. Basically it’s one of the coolest instruments I’ve seen in a long time, and Tony was rockin’ out so hard he broke his (which he said was 1 of 12 in the world).
Find out what a clavinet is and see video from the show after the jump!
A clavinet is pretty much a cross between a piano and guitar. He shreds the piano keys and it’s amplified out as crazy electric guitar solos and riffs. His model even includes a huge whammy bar that let’s him bend the notes.

Here is video of their show from last night. Check out how cool that thing sounds! Watch the video below at about the 3:20 mark to see him break it!
