I would say “third time’s the charm,” but then again, so were the first and second. This time, however, they’re riding shotgun. Muse has officially been announced as the first band on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack.

The band is the Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer‘s, favorite band and has appeared on the soundtracks of the first two film adaptations: Twilight and New Moon.

Regardless of your feelings towards the books or the films, it’s almost undeniable that the soundtracks have been stellar! Paramore had “Decode” on the Twilight soundtrack. Death Cab For Cutie had “Meet Me On the Equinox” on the New Moon soundtrack… and I’m gonna make you click more to find out the title and release date of the Muse song that’ll be a part of the Eclipse soundtrack.

After appearing on the soundtracks for Twilight and New Moon with “Supermassive Black Hole” and “I Belong To You,” respectively, Muse has once again decided to lend their talents to the Twilight Saga. The soundtrack for the film version of Eclipse will feature a new track titled “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever).” While the album isn’t released until June 8, the single is set to drop May 17. Being a huge Muse fan myself, as well as someone who has kept up with this whole Twilight phenomenon from early on, I can’t wait to hear the song and speculate as to where it will show up in the film. It was initially reported that Muse would not appear on the Eclipse soundtrack, but that obviously isn’t the case. In addition to being Stephenie Meyer’s favorite band, Eclipse director, David Slade, who is more experienced as a music video director, has directed three videos for Muse (“Hyper Music, Feeling Good,” “Bliss,” and “New Born”), so their participation in this soundtrack seemed to be a given.

No more info has been released about the soundtrack yet, but I’m sure we’ll have the info for you as soon as it comes out.

Even if you hate the franchise, I highly recommend giving the soundtracks a chance! Some artists included on the Twilight soundtrack are MUTEMATH, Paramore, Linkin Park, Iron & Wine, Blue Foundation. Some artists on the New Moon soundtrack are Band of Skulls, Lykke Li, Bon Iver & St. Vincent, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sea Wolf, Ok Go, Grizzly Bear and the Editors. Check it out!

MUTHMATH is such a great band. Glad to see them on the new Twilight soundtrack. They were also on last summer’s Transformers soundtrack. Hopefully their inclusion will lead to some airplay on KROQ.

MUTEMATH was actually just on the FIRST soundtrack. This new one hasn’t announced anything yet other than Muse. I’m hoping they continue their streak of fantastic soundtracks though.
