The Dirty Heads broke the #1 barrier this week!
Congrats to our friends from Huntington. They’re on week #2 at the top of KROQ’s Most Played. And to think just a few months ago they were just sitting around the Hurley studios recording songs and wondering if they’d every get national attention. Well guess what boys, you’re blowing up. Enjoy.

There’s those same 3 songs at #2, 3 and 4. At least the song above and below them are fairly new. Why aren’t you playing the new stuff from the biggest bands in Modern Rock? Why so content on playing songs to death that are 6 months to a year old? This is War by 30 seconds to Mars is one of the hottest, most well recieved songs out there right now and you guys don’t even have it in your Top 28? Hallucinations by Angels and Airwaves? I’m your Daddy or Can’t Stop Partying by Weezer? Why are you guys just playing 3 decent modern rock tracks over and over again with some of that rock stuff that all sounds the same while ignoring what’s going on in the entire modern rock world?

Great post Bo! But it’s actually called “On Melancholy Hill” although I’ve written it as just Melancholy Hill a few times myself. Absolutely great song! They also need to get Neon Indians “Sleep Paralysist” in there as well……KROQ purists would eat that song up!

Nah, I don’t think many people in LA are interested in that quasi country rock music that the entire Midwest and bible belt is listening to. How about some indie-ish music for the people in the coast that aren’t sipping a bud in a wifebeater, KROQ?

radio isn’t what it used to be anymore. Clear Channel has taken a shit on every radio stsation and charts around. That is why you still hear old songs being played instead of new ones. The way things are ,we woll probobly never hear songs like Neon Trees- 1983,Paramore- Careful nor Weezer- I’m Your Daddy. They didn’t even have enough songs for the trasdiational Top 106,7 countdown last year.It’s a real shame, but this is the future of radio.

someone in the programming department is getting payola, why else would they keep playing the red hot chilli pepper every day they haven’t had a new album in 5 years and songs the do play are off an album from 1999 and they jiusted played song from the conehead soundtrack!! am I the only one but i change the station each time they come on

Yes, I am so sick of the Chili Peppers….and I used to love them but modern rock radio can’t do anything original but play an old RHCP, Foo Fighters, Nirvanna and Pearl Jam song between every new song they play. There’s so much cool stuff out there, not just what we’ve mentioned up above, but songs like “Floating Vibes” by Surfer Blood and “Odessa” by Caribou as well. This is stuff KROQ used to jump all over……..so sad.

Ummmm….not what I’d call an amazing version of Viva La Vida. Just more of there typical pseudo reggae that’s been bashed into our heads since the mid ’90′s with Sublime, 311 and the like. Now, about that playlist – there’s those same 3 songs again, in the exact same order as last week but only dropping to numbers 3, 4 and 5 this week. How long exactly do you plan on playing these songs that are now either approaching being a year old, or, in 1901′s case, over a year old?

Avenged Sevenfold has a new song out, and it’s called “Nightmare”. Bullet For My Valentine’s new song “The Last Fight” is also a good song. You guys should add those two songs on your playlist.
