Taylor Hawkins Discusses New Foo Fighters Album

If you don’t count their Greatest Hits album released last year, some serious Foo has been missing from our lives for the past 3 years. Like true professionals, band mates Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins have been busy rockin’ out front and center in their respective side projects, Them Crooked Vultures and Taylor Hawkins and the Coat-Tail Riders. Hawkins was recently interviewed on the current status of the new Foo Fighters album and when we can expect its drop.
Find out by crackin’ the more.
Apparently the new album is coming along swiftly, more than a dozen song ideas have surfaced from the Foo’s frontman. Hawkins said, “In all honesty, Dave’s got fifteen or so song ideas that are awesome and we’ve already demoed some of them twice even,” adding, “we do a lot of demoing to found exactly the arrangements we want, getting them exactly how we want them. It’s a large process for us. It takes a long time to do it. We don’t just say, OK, let’s go make a record and pop in the studio and record it just like that. There’s a lot of preproduction that goes into making a Foo fighters record.”
And what about those side projects? One would think with all the touring and promoting that tags along with new bands, Grohl and Hawkins would revel with some rest now and then. Not so. ”All that stuff in the past, it’s proven to be recharging… As long as everyone’s ready, as long as we don’t do it because we feel like we have to, like because the record company wants another record, that kind of crap doesn’t make a good music.”
We know the guys are gonna make this one good as they always do, and sometimes that sacrifices some optimism whether the album will be out sooner than later. Hawkins promised the album will “absolutely” arrive in 2011.
“
They're really cool songs. I know it's going to be great.
”
“It’s very much in the beginning stages, but we have a very strong start and we’re excited. They’re really cool songs. I know it’s going to be great.”
So there you have it KROQ fiends, we’re still roughly a year away from new Foo content. Single tear.
Now I’m going to take advantage of this moment and post the drunken epic that is “Low.” Yes, Jack Black and Dave Grohl get absolutely sh*t faced in a skanky motel room together. Male bondage at its best.

I absolutely love the Foos, but in the past two weeks I have had my face rocked off by Them Crooked Vultures and Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, so if this is what the Foos call a hiatus, its fine with me. Of course I will be psyched for a new Foos record when it comes, but for the meantime I am really digging the side projects
