The Killers’ Ronnie Vannucci Forms New Supergroup

Following in the footsteps of supergroups like Them Crooked Vultures, The Dead Weather and Audioslave, The Killers‘ drummer Ronnie Vannucci has teamed up with some extraordinary talent to form a new band.

Click more to find out who Vannucci will be hitting the stage with next.

Mt Desolation (no, not a volcano delaying flights worldwide) is Vannucci’s new band and consists of Tim Rice Oxley (keyboardist/songwriter for Keane),  Winston Marshall of Mumford and Sons and Noah and The Whale‘s Tom Hobden, among others. The band has been keeping readers updated for months on the recording process of their debut album (due out later this year) via the band’s website with plans to make their on stage debut in London on June 4th.

With the album still being finalized, you’ll have to keep checking back to get a first listen. But the band had this to say about the recording process:

“The end of the recording sessions marked the end of the first chapter of the story. The band had revelled in the joy of making music without any motive other than just doing what they loved. As Mt Desolation begins its second chapter, the fun and excitement of making the music remains, except now instead of being confined to a recording studio it’s being taken on the road to share with anyone who wants a part of it.”

It is really a great story. And this is a great advice for all who are thinking about these.

This should not be considered a supergroup nor should they compare it to bands like Audioslave. Doesn’t mean that the music won’t be good but come on, really, “Supergroup”?
