Coachella Artist Spotlight: Benny Benassi

With Coachella quickly approaching (a little over a month away), we take a look at Benny Benassi, the mix-master extraordinaire who is set to perform at this year’s music festival.

When you think of Benassi, you think of hot, sweaty raves filled with hundreds of people packed together, handing out candy left and right, and home-made bracelets strung together the night before.  But Benassi has created an empire, a place where people of all ages and ethnicities can come together and get lost in his pulse-pounding beat.

Benassi, a native of Milan, is now known as the 10th-most popular DJ in the world and has mixed it up with such artists as Outkast, David Guetta, Moby, Goldfrapp, Paul Oakenfold, Faithless and Public Enemy. His most recent album, Rock n Rave, was released June 2008 and features the ever fun and freaky mixes that Benassi is known for.

As an Italian disc jockey, Benassi has won countless awards including the 2008 Grammy Award for his remix on Public Enemy’s, “Bring the Noise.” Benassi also produces tracks under the name Benassi Bros. with his cousin Alle Benassi.

Benassi will be performing at this year’s Coachella Music and Art Festival on Friday, April 16th.
