What You Missed: The 2010 OC Music Awards Hosted By Psycho Mike

This past Saturday, Psycho Mike hosted the 2010 OC Music Awards, held at The Grove in Anaheim.  This event honored the best in the Orange County music scene, and included performances by The Dirty Heads and Lit, and a special appearance by Sugar Ray.

2010 OC Music Awards Winners

Some of the names on this list you may be familiar with, such as The Dirty Heads, Sugar Ray, The Adolescents, Atreyu and Thrice. Stereofix is an up and coming group that took home “Best Alternative” over Thrice and Saosin, so be on the lookout for them. While not all of the bands could be in attendance, the venue was still packed and provided a great night to honor one of the most progressive music scenes in the world. The rain put a damper on the red carpet, but that didn’t stop the festivities happening inside…

The night was also filled with several performances. Dusty Rhodes & The River Band showed why they won “Best Live Band,” and Lit played a heart-felt acoustic song in remembrance of their late drummer, Allen Shellenberger. The Dirty Heads brought along their pal Rome (of Sublime With Rome) to close out the evening with a performance of “Lay Me Down.” Sugar Ray was also on hand to accept the “Orange County Impact Award,” and let me tell you, Mark McGrath looks almost exactly the same as he did in the late 90′s.
