Maynard James Keenan proves wine is not for pussies.

He’s a man who has rocked the world in many bands including TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, but for a while now Keenan has found his bliss in the rocky hills of a small Arizona town making his own brand of wine.
Blood Into Wine chronicles Keenan’s adventures in constructing a vineyard in no man’s land. Instead of battling record companies he now deals with the City Council and grape loving Havalinas. You’ll learn a whole lot about the wine process in this fun and moving doc which also gives us a peek into Keenan’s personal life as rarely seen before.
This is the conversation I had with Maynard James Keenan yesterday.
Blood Into Wine
Blood into Wine is screening in many cities across the US. If you can’t make it to the theatre you may pre-order a dvd copy here.

This is a wonderful flick! It breathes life into a mysterious and elusive rock star-MJK- and shows that there are many second acts in show biz. Particularly if you get out of dodge, lay some big cash out and fortify yourself up in them thar hills of Zonie-land!
It is fascinating to watch the process of growing grapes in a somewhat hostile climate and how it all turns into a beautiful bottle of vino! Any Maynard fan would obviously enjoy this film but so would wino-o-philes and those contemplating a move to Arizona. All I can say is watch out for javelina’s!!
