I Am Loving: The Gaslight Anthem

Every single one of us has one thing in common: Music.
So, it is our duty to share music with one another, cause let’s face it, MTV ain’t what it used to be. Having said that, I would like to share with you a band that’s been in heavy rotation on my iPod for some time now.
They call themselves The Gaslight Anthem and they hail from the great state of New Jersey. It’s a damn shame that pop culture has raped New Jersey of all it’s dignity and in its place assigned the pickle sucking Snooky as its ambassador. That’s neither here nor there though. The Gaslight Anthem is one of my favorite bands for some of these reasons: They blow me away on stage, they are easy on the soul, they make me and my friends sing out loud at the top of our lungs, and they have a genuine sound that caters to the free spirit in me.
They describe themselves as, “Bruce Springsteen singing for a Cure cover band with a tinge more aggression”. I personally hear a tinge of Kings of Leon in there as well. Sold.
In anticipation of their new album, I’ve been listening to all my favorite Gaslight Anthem songs. I recommend their album The 59′ sound for your listening pleasure. From beginning to end it’s nearly flawless and it’s the kind of album that just lightens up the mood of the world.
Here is one of my favorite Gaslight Anthem songs, “Casanova, Baby!” off of The 59′ Sound.
The band’s new album, American Slang, is due out June 14th.

Best blog ever writing on this website. I know these guys personally and knew them since they were playing to like 10 people at a show in Fullerton and every bit of popularity is rightful deserved. By far my favorite band. To anyone who loves this band Brian Fallon, the lead singer, is playing a solo acoustic show March 19th at the Troubadour. You do not want to miss this! American Slang is going to be one of the best records of the year along with White Crosses from Against Me!

Great choice Nicole. Saw these guys with Rise Against, Coachella 2009 and w/ The Loved Ones. One of the better bands out there and really down to earth guys. I highly recommend their debut Sink or Swim.
